Trunk Show Thursday

Dress, Vintage silk slip/ Vest, Lumiere/ Shoes, Vintage fringe booties/ Jewelry, Rima Hyena necklace and Gallivanteur necklace.

What a Thursday night!  Not only did I get to go to one of my favorite vintage stores in Austin, Laced With Romance, but they were having a trunk show featuring Rimya Hyena, one of my favorite jewelry designers.  Armed with my Rima Hyena crystal necklace, I jammed out to live music from Kay Leotard & Holy Wave, rummaged through racks of beautiful vintage, and sipped on some free drinks.  What could be better?!

Naughty And Nice

Shorts, Free People/ Shirt, Urban Outfitters/ Shoes, Jeffrey Campbell/ Sunglasses, Thrifted/ Jewelry, Urban Outfitters necklace, Yve Saint Laurent cocktail ring, Vintage rings.

Just wanted to post a quick blog update before meeting a friend at dinner!  Flowers aren't usually my thing, but I love how the colors pop in my new floral shorts, and when paired with my statement spiked necklace, the shorts don't appear as innocent anymore.  Hope you all have a lovely night!

Love, Happiness, and History.

Skirt, Urban Outfitters/ Top, Vintage/ Shoes, Nordstrom/ Belt, JLINSNIDER Vintage/ Jewelry, Vintage.

On the walk to my first real TexMex dinner last night (and by that, I mean eating Mexican food in Texas), I stumbled upon some lovely things.  Firstly, I found that I was practically neighbors with a beautiful historic mansion, fully equipped with a massive yard surrounded by an intricate wrought iron fence.  This teleported me back to my beloved Charleston, a city overflowing with historic mansions and intricate fences, so I had to stop and stare!  The next highlight of my walk were these simple words on a simple wall; "Love and Happiness", which simply lightened my spirit, and reminded me that love and happiness are all you need in life.

Southwestern Inspiration

Turquoise, silver, studs, leather, suede, fringe, tribal, feathers, and dreamcatchers... what more could a girl ask for?!  My Southwestern obsession has come to an all time high now that I'm actually living in the region.

Getting Retro

Pants, New Bohemia Vintage/ Leotard, American Apparel/ Shoes, Steve Madden/ Jewelry, Urban Outfitters necklace

I'm thrilled to debut my high wasted, 70's style, bell bottom pants for my night out on the town!  I found these babies on SoCo, and they're quite the fab addition to my closet.  People may think I'm crazy for wearing pants during Austin's summertime (it was 102 degrees today!), but thanks to these wide legs, my nights remain as breezy as ever.

The Magic School Bus

Shorts, rag & bone/ Shirt, Urban Outfitters/ Fringe Booties, Vintage/ Handbag, Marc Jacobs/ Sunglasses, American Apparel/ Jewelry, Buffalo Exchange necklace, Pamela Love ring, vintage rings

As the job hunt continues, I hit up South Congress where I got some great vintage finds, as well as dropped off more resumes.  South Congress is by far my favorite street in Austin, full of fun restaurants and shops, and food trucks galore!  As a result of the city's locally-driven culture, the street is lined with Austinite vendors' and artists' booths, helping to "keep Austin weird".  While browsing the booths, my new Texan self couldn't resist the cowboy boots!

Spider House Cafe

Upon my arrival in Austin, I wasted no time applying for jobs.  After researching the best vintage stores in Austin, I hit Guadalupe St, otherwise known as "The Drag", where vintage stores reign supreme.  I went into each store with a confident attitude and a smile, hoping that someone would respond "Yes, we are hiring."  Although I left almost empty-handed, I did manage to snag this new necklace from Buffalo Exchange, while discovering my new favorite Austin Hangout; Spider House Cafe.  The Cafe/ Bar off of Guadalupe was the most eclectic and eccentric bar that I've been to in awhile.  I sat at an old wrought iron table with mis-matched plastic chairs.  To my right was an old bathtub in the middle of the courtyard, and to my left was a vintage soda vending machine.  Relaxed Indie-tunes played from the speakers while I sipped a glass of wine and people watched (more like tattoo watched; nearly everyone there was inked in body art and stories... can't wait to get my own!).  Long story short, I absolutely loved the vibe at Spider House!
